QC Final Inspection Technician

The Quality Control Final Inspection Technicianlocated in our Duncan, SC location has a primary objective is to support QC testing functions. The Associate will be involved in the testing of Black Jacket, OPTGW, Premise & Specialty cables. Flexibility will be key. Individual must be detail-oriented and driven to mistake-free work and have the ability to work unassisted with limited supervision.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Auditing and monitoring quality requirements in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and customer specifications.
  • Conducting inspections and completing final inspections at in-process and in-coming.
  • Prepping cable for testing.
  • Performing accurate dimensional, physical and visual inspection of product as per Inspection Plans and Specification Requirements.
  • Testing the transmission capability of fiber in cable with an OTDR.
  • Completing required final inspection documentation.
  • Filing inspection history records.
  • Ensuring calibration and maintenance is performed on inspection equipment before use.
  • Adhering to QC testing priorities.
  • Completing Oracle & QTS transactions.
  • Documenting final inspection information in various databases and other internal programs.
  • Creating test packages for non-standard customer requirements.
  • Interacting with Process Engineers, Product Line Managers, Customer Service Representatives and Raw Material Buyers.
  • Creating Non-Conformance reports (NCMIRs) as required.
  • Inspecting and testing RMAs.
  • Supporting safety correction actions and safety initiatives.
  • Complying with all quality, safety, and work rules.
  • Following all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Working with other company personnel to resolve inspection questions.
  • Performing product identification and traceability activities, as required.
  • Assisting in the training of new final inspectors.
  • Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned by lead associates.
  • Re-inspecting products after they have been reworked to ensure they conform to the product standards/specifications.
  • Supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). A factory acceptance test (FAT) is a test conducted at AFL, usually by a third-party, to verify that our product operates according to approved specifications and meets contractual specifications.

Requirements & Skills:

  • High School diploma or GED with one year of manufacturing experience is required.
  • Solid understanding of quality control.
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience preferably in a position that requires a solid understanding of quality control
  • Experience with all cable product lines (OPGW, Black jacket, Premise, & Specialty) is preferred
  • Basic use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Competent user of QTS, Oracle R12 WIP and Order Management modules preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with customers. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the propensity to engage others as necessary to complete assignments.
  • Must be detail-oriented and driven to mistake-free work as well as have the ability to work unassisted with limited supervision.
  • Must be willing to work 3-2-2 schedule (day shift: 7am-7pm and night shift: 7pm-7am) rotating day-shift/night-shift every 2 months.
  • Available to work overtime, off shift, and weekends with limited prior notice as well as rotating shifts when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply basic math and numeric reasoning to solve problems.
  • Well-honed time management and organizational skills. Strong bias for action and problem-solving with a mindset towards quality and protecting the customer. No pending, active or repetitive history of disciplinary action. Dependable with exceptional attendance history.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
