MissionThe Preconstruction Manager will be responsible for managing a team of Construction Estimators for bidding targeted work.
Responsibilities are to ensure that the Estimating team has prepared a comprehensive and responsive bid.
Main Responsibilities Be able to assess the market for shifts/patterns that may contribute to increase in future workload Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers about prospective work Manage Estimating team workload to prepare comprehensive bid proposals Other duties as assigned Oversee and review the work of the Estimating department ensuring an effective and streamlined bid process Prepare and support the bid close for a timely bid submittal Provide consistent training to the Estimating team Research and remain up-to-date on current Estimating software and follow through with training Research pricing for estimates based on historical and regional costs Research new bidding opportunities and newly advertised projects within our geographical territory Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scopes of work and required contents of estimates Support Senior Management on achieving yearly goals and prepare budget presentations Update and manage Estimating bid system (HeavyBid) Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Technology or an equivalent combination technical training and/or related experience Minimum of 8 years' experience in estimating cost controls and/or engineering related experience Desired Skills and Abilities:
Ability to comprehend project plans and specifications Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively and be flexible Ability to prepare detailed, accurate estimates Ability to work independently and as a team Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines and process projects quickly Excellent attention to detail Excellent organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication Must be a self-starter and self-directed Must be able to lead estimating teams Must rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Proficient in Word, Excel, JD Edwards, Heavy Bid/Heaving Job estimating software Proven ability to maintain and develop clients Strong tendency to take initiative Physical Requirements:
Ability to utilize hands and fingers in order to type and carry reports should the need require Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands throughout the workday should the need arise Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch should the need arise Ability to sit for a long period of time, possibly more than 90% of the workday Ability to see clearly or with assistance via necessary correction Workplace Values:
